What verified revenue means
On Ventmark, revenue is verified only when it comes from payment data the founder connected with read-only access, reviewed privately and chose to share. It shows that payments were recorded for the selected products. It does not prove identity, profit or that the business is a good buy.
Facts checked
Where it stands today
Revenue verification is built for Stripe, Dodo Payments and Razorpay. It is rolling out provider by provider and is not yet available to every founder. Until a startup has shared verified figures, any revenue on its page is the founder's own number, labelled self-reported and shown to signed-in members only.
How a figure becomes verified
- The founder connects a payment provider with read-only access. Never a login.
- They select the products that belong to this startup. Another startup can't reuse those products.
- Ventmark imports the payment records. The import stays private until the founder has reviewed it.
- The founder chooses to share it. Each shared figure shows the provider, the product scope, the period covered and when it was imported.
Only that shared evidence earns the Verified label. The tools are included in the Premium plans for each startup.
What is checked
- MRR: the monthly value of active, paid recurring subscriptions, with annual plans divided by 12 and trials, past-due, paused, one-time and usage payments left out.
- 30-day collections: successful payments in the last 30 days, including one-time purchases and customer taxes.
- When an amount, discount or tax can't be established, the figure is shown as unavailable rather than guessed.
Freshness and scope
Connected sources are refreshed regularly. After 24 hours without a complete import, the figures become stale and drop out of current revenue rankings. If the founder disconnects or the plan ends, figures shared earlier can stay as dated history, clearly marked.
Verified figures cover only the products the founder selected. Payments that can't be attributed to those products are left out and disclosed. It is evidence for the connected scope, not a guarantee of the whole company's revenue.
What it does not prove
- Who the founder is, or that they own the company or its code.
- Profit. Payments in are not money kept.
- That the business is legitimate or lawful.
- User counts or growth beyond what the payments show.
- Whether buying the startup is a good idea.
Payments can still be fraudulent or paid by the founder to themselves. Treat verified revenue as one piece of evidence and do your own due diligence.
How it differs from other labels
- Domain verification is required to publish any listing. It proves the person who published it controls the website's domain, and nothing about revenue. See domain verification.
- Premium, Plus and Max are paid plans. They change how a listing is shown and include the verification tools, but paying never makes a startup verified.
- Self-reported numbers are typed in by the founder. Nobody checks them, and they are labelled that way.
